make each element in a list occur once python

for i in my_list:
	if i in corrected_list:
		continue
	else:
		corrected_list.append(i)

Here is what the above code is Doing:
1. It’s creating a new list called corrected_list.
2. It’s looping through the list my_list.
3. It’s checking to see if the item in my_list is in the new list corrected_list.
4. If it is, it skips it.
5. If it isn’t, it adds it to the new list.
